The pineal gland, a small, soybean-sized gland located in the centre of the brain between the two hemispheres, was once known as the “third eye.”
French philosopher and mathematician René Descartes was fascinated with the pineal gland. He even regarded it as the “principal seat of the soul, and the place in which all our thoughts are formed.”
Today, the pineal gland’s full purpose is still a bit of a mystery to medical science. This gland is responsible for producing melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate sleep and wakefulness. Researchers have determined that melatonin has two primary functions in humans — to help control your circadian (or biological) rhythm and regulate certain reproductive hormones. This simple hormone is special because its secretion is dictated by light.
Light cues from the eye signal the pineal gland to produce melatonin or stop releasing melatonin.
The pineal gland is spiritually relevant as it pertains to the third eye or sixth chakra. In the months before activating the third eye, one can experience greater inner turbulence, as if an internal struggle is intensifying. This inner conflict serves a purpose: emotional pain, even fear, are catalysts to transformation. The contraction of emotional energy can create a spontaneous awakening resulting in expanded awareness.

Surrender is a key factor in the awakening process. It signals to the universe that you desire change, and it demonstrates a willingness to go beyond the thinking mind. Upon activation, the third eye, as an activated spiritual force, will begin to vibrate sending waves of energy between the eye brows. It will begin shutting down automatic negative thinking without any effort. This experience is the beginning of clarity and the remembrance of oneness with The All That Is.

With this shift in consciousness, theory is transcended and one now experiences oneness directly on a moment-by-moment basis. One is no longer tied to the past or future but is centered in the present. Operating through the authentic self and through the eye of clarity one can see The One Spirit in everything and everyone. The third eye is single vision, the channel that allows for clarity, wisdom and understanding. Being the receiver for profound light, the third eye, when activated, consumes all darkness and allows for the physical body to be filled with the light of consciousness.
Shedding the egoic self, one’s vibrational frequency is raised and the understanding is that there are no limits to consciousness. You are now free.

Pineal Gland Activation Breathing Exercise

This exercise is to help activate the Pineal Gland and to increase the flow of cerebral spinal fluids in your spinal column and on up to the brain.

Take a deep breath in through your nose, as if you have a runny nose. Tighten all the muscles starting at the pelvic bone and breathe in to the top of your head while raising your arms over your head.
As you hold the breath, bring your arms down to your head level and imagine the fluids swirling about in your brain cavity, while making arm, hand wave movements around and behind your head.
After  a long count of 10 bring your arms down while breathing out slowly with a joyful extended AW sound.
Repeat three more times.

Finish off with a Very good, very good, YEAH cheer!
An added bonus to doing this exercise is to break through any blockages that might be found in any of your chakras.
Reflect on how you’re feeling in this moment!

Joyful Blessings,
Kathryn
